Our Grilled Cheese Truffle recipe is a new twist on a beloved staple.

Featuring three Hedessent Flavours, we start this recipe with our Black Truffle Flavour. This essence adds a deeper, umami note and takes this classic comfort food from every day to gourmet. 

Hedessent Grilled Cheese Truffle flavours

Our Pesto Flavour is a complex combination of bright and herbal, tempered with subtle garlicky undertones and a richness that is reminiscent of parmesan, pine nuts, and a quality olive oil. Mushroom Porcino Flavour adds a savory, meaty earthiness, which balances and complements the fresh flavours of the Pesto, while still enhancing the woodsy of the Black Truffle. 

For an added bonus we also included a quick and easy way to spice up ketchup using our Chili Hot Flavour.

Grilled Cheese Truffle

Equipment

  • Large Skillet Cast-iron skillet recommended for best sear
  • Coarse grater i.e box grater

Ingredients

Grilled Cheese

  • 2 slices thick-cut bread
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 10 drops Hedessent Black Truffle Flavour
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 10-15 drops Hedessent Pesto Flavour
  • 20 drops Hedessent Mushroom Porcino Flavour

Spicy Ketchup

  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 4-5 drops Hedessent Chili Hot Flavour

Instructions

  • In small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise and Black Truffle flavour; spread on both sides of thick-cut bread slices.  
    2 slices thick-cut bread, 10 drops Hedessent Black Truffle Flavour, 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy skillet over medium heat; cook bread slices, turning once, until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes.  
  • Spread mozzarella over one slice and squeeze Pesto flavour and Mushroom Porcino flavour all over. Sandwich with remaining bread and flip over the sandwich. Cook until melted, 1 to 2 minutes.  
    1/2 cup shredded mozzarella, 10-15 drops Hedessent Pesto Flavour, 20 drops Hedessent Mushroom Porcino Flavour
  • Spicy Ketchup: In small bowl, stir the ketchup and Chili Hot flavour.  
    3 tbsp ketchup, 4-5 drops Hedessent Chili Hot Flavour

Notes

Pro Tip: Most grilled cheese recipes say to cook only one side of the bread slice, while cooking both sides ensures a crispy bite every time.  
Pairing: Add 15 to 20 drops of Cheddar Flavour for an extra cheesy combo.
