Bite-Sized Waffle Canapés

Ingredients

Whipped Feta

  • 6 tbsp crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ lemon juiced
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 4 drops Hedessent Garlic Flavour Drops

Spiced Olives

  • 1 cup pitted Castelvetrano olives
  • 3 tsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • ¼ cinnamon stick broken into small pieces
  • ¼ tsp anise seeds
  • ¼ tsp black peppercorns slightly crushed
  • 3-4 drops Hedessent Chili Hot Flavour Drops
  • Pinch of sea salt

Waffles

  • 2 regular-sized toaster waffles
  • Fresh parsley leaves

Instructions

Whipped Feta

  • Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor.
  • Blend until a smooth, thick paste forms.

Spiced Olives

  • Halve the olives lengthwise.
  • Add all ingredients (except olives and maple syrup) to a small heat-proof bowl.
  • Microwave for 10–15 seconds until warmed.
  • Stir in the maple syrup, then toss the olive halves in the mixture until well coated.

Assembly

  • Cook the waffles according to the package instructions. (Feeling fancy? Make your own waffles using a waffle maker!)
  • Cut the waffles into small pieces, each the size of a single waffle pocket.
  • Add the whipped feta to a piping bag with a nozzle of your choice.
  • Pipe a dollop of feta onto each waffle bite.
  • Top each with an olive half and garnish with a small parsley leaf.
